Josh Koble

Two wheels are a part of Josh's soul and it comes out every time he hits the street or park on his bike.

Q: How old are you and what age did you start riding?

A: Umm I’d say I must have been around 5 or 6. Long enough I don’t really remember. Remember my bike though.

Q: Who was your biggest influence when you started on two wheels?

A: Well I was pretty young as I said so I didn’t really have any real person or reason. Just knew I wanted to ride. I could ride better than I could walk. But years later my friend Greg (RIP) really pushed my love to another level and showed me what I could do if I just went for it.

Q: What are some of your interests outside or riding?

A: Well I love to get out on a mountain bike when I can. The freedom of being out riding trails and being in the Wilderness is like nothing else. I love snowboarding too and obviously nothing beats time with the family.

Q: Current bike?

A: Well it’s a mash up of parts really. Bsd frame, a multitude of bsd parts. Profile hubs. Really just a bit of everything I love.

I can only hope that I inspire people to go for it and do what they love as much as I’ve been inspired over the years.

Q: Is there anything odd about your current bike setup?

A: I’d say nothing really odd. Water camo hubs maybe? Haha I did set my tires up tubeless awhile ago to see if it would work. It did. Kind of lol

Q: A rad moment from the 2017/18 season?

A: Yeah I didn’t really get out a ton this season just busy with life and stuff but I’d say every time out with the guys is rad. Watching the younger riders progress is super awesome to watch for sure!

Q: Name a few of your favourite pro riders, past or present.

A: Holy that’s a loaded one. How can you do that. Haha. There’s so many unreal riders. Right now I’ve gotta give a huge shout out to Scotty Cranmer. He’s definitely top of any list I could make but his recovery and progress is inspiring.

Q: What music have you been into lately?

A: Definitely been on the old school hip hop lately. Gift Of Gab, Zion I, most of the 80's stuff. Always Run DMC. Lots of good metal came out lately and always love my drum’n’bass.

Q: A movie you could watch on repeat?

A: Easy. Where the trail ends. Or UnReal. Both legendary.

Q: What gets you stoked?

A: Just being out. The thought of getting out on my bike and being with friends. I’d be happy if I could just ride everyday.

Q: Favourite terrain to ride?

A: I’m definitely a park rat. Although I enjoy riding street. You’ll always see a smile on my face if I’m on a mountain bike ripping though trees and rocks.

Q: Tell us what your driving to your local riding spots.

A: Normally it would just be my bike but more recently it’s a Ford Explorer.

Q: Latest TV/Netflix series binge?

A: Forged in fire. Can’t get enough of it. Always love The First 48.

Q: Favourite junk food?

A: #facepalm man. Well I’m sitting here with a bag of wine gums so let’s just go with those... for tonight anyways.

Q: Worst Injuries?

A: Smashed my teeth through the front of my face once that was pretty bad. Still don’t have any there.

Q: Most recent injury?

A: A continued back injury that will never go away. Been keeping it pretty tame on the bike so nothing as a result of that lately. Blew up my ankle last year. No where near as bad as Malcolm’s though!!

Q: What does “Built to Ride” mean to you?

A: Friendship. Definitely first and foremost. I’d say I’m honoured to be a part of it as well. It’s an amazing thing that started years ago as just a few stickers on bikes and a dream and now it’s turned into a symbol of a love for biking or just being out enjoying whatever you ride.

Q: Any last words?

A: Well I can’t say thanks enough for the privilege of being a part of Built to Ride. I promise to always represent the brand with pride and share my love of riding with every person I can. I can only hope that I inspire people to go for it and do what they love as much as I’ve been inspired over the years. Whatever you ride, wherever you ride just have fun doing it.
